Summary
I want to preface this episode with a couple of things: #1 – Extreme self-care isn’t about shock value. It’s about survival, liberation, and choosing yourself when everything around you says don’t. #2 – The choices I’m sharing in this episode may feel uncomfortable, even unthinkable, because Black women are socialized to endure instead of disrupt. But these choices are valid. They are powerful. And they are yours to claim. In this episode of the Brown Girl Self-Care Podcast, I’m talking about five extreme self-care moves that many of us are told we can’t choose: Cutting off a parent Declining the caregiver role Choosing not to have children Leaving the traditional church Investing in yourself first To live well we sometimes have to be extreme or disrupt the status quo.
