Summary
In November 2023, the death of Saltanat Nukenova , wife of Kazakhstan's former Minister of Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev, was initially reported as a tragic bathroom accident. Months later, recovered CCTV footage revealed a very different story, exposing hours of alleged domestic abuse and triggering one of the country's most closely watched murder trials. In this episode of You Can't Unhear , we examine the the courtroom revelations, and how public outrage ultimately helped reshape Kazakhstan's domestic violence laws through what became known as Saltanat's Law .
