Summary
In March 2019, 16-year-old Christine Lee Silawan disappeared after attending church in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines. The following morning, her body was discovered in a vacant lot, beginning one of the country's most disturbing and controversial murder investigations. Police initially focused on Christine's teenage ex-boyfriend, but the case changed dramatically when 43-year-old Renato Payupan Llenes was arrested and admitted that he had allegedly used fake Facebook accounts to communicate with Christine before arranging a meeting.
