Summary
Wisconsin law requires absentee ballots to arrive at the polls before they close on Election Day in order to be counted. But the state elections commission made the wrong decision, a Dane County judge ruled Thursday, when it ordered the city of Madison to remove 23 late-arriving ballots from the spring election’s final tally. Scott Thompson is staff counsel at Law Forward, a Madison-based firm that sued the elections commission on behalf of two impacted voters. He joined our News Producer Faye Parks to explain how they won the case. Image courtesy: Chali Pittman / WORT News.
