Summary

Dane County Public Safety Communications has deployed a virtual assistant to handle non-emergency calls, which account for more than half of the nearly 400,000 calls they take in every year. Full implementation of the assistant, called “AVA,” is slated to happen this coming Monday. Luis Bixler is Dane County’s director of public safety communications. He told our News Producer Faye Parks that the change will allow communicators to focus on lifesaving work without compromising callers’ privacy. Image courtesy: Dane County 911 via Facebook.
