Summary
Content Warning & Disclaimer Please proceed with caution. This episode may be highly triggering for survivors of abuse and trauma. Listener discretion is strongly advised. This is part one of two parts with Kayleigh. Kayleigh was in a relationship for 15 years. In fact, it ended only weeks ago. She wanted to bring us her story as soon as she could. And it is worth your time and attention. Her upbringing included abuse from her mother and father. She also had abusive relationships in her dating years. She thought she had found the right guy when she met Jesse. To her, he was the equivalent of a big cuddly teddy bear. So she fell for him completely. In the beginning, they spent every waking hour together. Everything seemed just perfect. But once he knew he had her, things changed rapidly. Once again, you might want to take notes while listening to this one. Because you will find red flags throughout. Stories like this should be considered practical exercises in what can and does happen all over the world. Abusers know how to put on the mask of nice people so they can gain control. When everything seems just about right, they become angry controllers that we hear about way too often on this podcast. Today, Kayleigh is a survivor, who is still getting used to having her freedom back. She is a much happier person, and she encourages those who are being victimized by abusers to figure out how to break free and do it. See information below and find your freedom!
