Truth is that which is real, factual, and in agreement with reality. A statement is true when it accurately reflects what actually is, rather than what is false, mistaken, or deceptive. In today's world, many people believe that truth is relative, meaning that what is true for one person may not be true for another. However, the Bible teaches that truth is not relative, but absolute. Absolute truth does not change based on opinions, culture, or personal beliefs. Instead, it remains constant because it is grounded in the unchanging nature of God and His Word. The Bible clearly teaches that God's Word is the standard of truth. In John 17:17, Jesus prayed to the Father and said, "Sanctify them through thy truth, thy word is truth." This statement is direct and clear. Jesus did not say that God's Word contains some truth, or that it is true only for certain people. Rather, He declared that God's Word is truth. Because God's Word reflects reality as God sees it, it provides a fixed and reliable standard that does not change with human opinion. Another passage that supports the idea of absolute truth is Malachi 3:6 where God says, "For I am the Lord, I change not." Since God's nature does not change, the truth that comes from Him also remains constant. If truth were relative, it would change depending on circumstances or individual viewpoints. However, because truth is rooted in the character of an unchanging God, it remains the same in every generation. Jesus himself also affirmed the existence of absolute truth. In John 14:6, He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me." This statement is exclusive and definite.
