Summary

The six South African delegates who travelled on board the Global Sumud Flotilla mission to break the siege on Gaza returned to South Africa today, Saturday, 23 May 2026. These South Africans formed part of the 482 member global civilian-led humanitarian mission to deliver life saving aid and food to the people of Gaza who have lived, died, and resisted under illegal blockade on Gaza that the Israeli regime has maintained since 2007. The goal of the mission remains to open a humanitarian sea corridor, break the siege, and end the genocide. En route to Gaza, the humanitarian activists were abducted in international waters by the Israeli Military and imprisoned without charge in K’tziot Prison, Occupied Palestine.
