Through her gentleness and steadfast example, she bore his difficulties with patience and eventually witnessed his conversion before his death. Yet her greatest sorrow was her son, Augustine of Hippo. Brilliant and restless, Augustine pursued a life far from the faith, embracing error and moral disorder.
