He was born in 1673 in Brittany, France, and from an early age showed a desire to belong entirely to God. After his studies and ordination to the priesthood, he chose a path of simplicity and sacrifice, embracing a life dedicated to preaching and serving the poor. Montfort traveled widely through western France, often on foot, preaching parish missions to revive the faith among the people. His sermons were direct, vivid, and deeply rooted in the truths of the Gospel. He called sinners to repentance and encouraged the faithful to live their baptismal promises with sincerity.
