Summary
Stefan Molyneux, a familiar name to most of my listeners, hosted the world's largest philosophy show until he was suddenly deplatformed everywhere. He had thought: I have the truth on my side, so who can stop me? But they want you to repeat -- or at least not outwardly object to -- a series of absurdities, and that makes a truth-teller dangerous. Happily, nowadays people regularly say far more provocative things than anything Stefan was punished for. He and I discuss this and plenty more. Stefan reflects on the rise of FreeDomain, his early work in practical philosophy, and the experience of being removed from major platforms. We discuss how the Overton window has shifted, why ideas that were once treated as beyond the pale are now openly discussed, and how deplatforming scattered his arguments more widely. We also talk about Stefan’s years filling in for Peter Schiff, the growth of his “Truth About” series, and the entrepreneurial lessons he learned while building an audience without institutional support. The conversation then turns to childhood, family life, peaceful parenting, the non-aggression principle, and Stefan’s belief that social and political problems must be addressed at their root. He explains why he sees the family as the foundation of a voluntary society and why entrepreneurship may offer young people a path toward greater independence. Finally, Stefan discusses the media’s treatment of controversial ideas, the difficulty of debating people who refuse to engage honestly, and the legacy he hopes to leave behind.
