Summary
In our seventh file, we travel to Chile, 1962 — where the World Cup arrived in a nation rebuilding from disaster. Two years before the tournament, Chile was struck by the most powerful earthquake ever recorded. It seemed impossible that a country still reeling and recovering from such incredible trauma could host a tournament on the scale of the World Cup. But Chile refused to give up. Against the odds, the tournament went ahead — bringing fierce battles, shocking violence, unforgettable goals, and the rise of a brilliant Brazil side trying to defend its crown without its biggest star. In Episode 7: Chile 1962 , we witness Chile's determination and resilience, find out why this became one of the roughest tournaments in football history, and how Brazil found a new hero on the road to back-to-back glory. Strap in. History never played it safe.
