Summary

Last week, you heard Part 1 of William Gray’s story. In October of 2022, 39-year-old William Gray disappeared from his home in Sweeny, Texas, leaving behind questions that remain unanswered more than three years later. In Part 1, we explored Will’s life, the mounting tension in his marriage, the events leading up to the day he vanished, and the early stages of the investigation. In the months before his disappearance, Will had been injured at work and underwent back surgery in September 2022. According to his sister, Beverly, he told her that once he was cleared to return to work, he planned to retain an attorney and file for divorce. He wanted to make sure he had everything in place before taking that step. At the time, Will continued living on the property he shared with his wife because he didn’t want to leave his young son behind. Beverly said he told her he had been sleeping in a camper on an adjoining property and that he was documenting what was happening around him. He said he had installed cameras and was backing up the data in multiple locations. The last known contact with Will was on October 17, 2022. His wife said he was picked up from the property in a truck, though descriptions of that vehicle have varied and, as far as Beverly knows, a driver has never been identified. Will’s phone was left behind, cutting off a key digital trail. In the days that followed, Beverly reported him missing to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office. Beverly said she was surprised to learn that investigators reported finding no digital evidence, despite what Will had told her about the steps he was taking to preserve everything.
