Summary

What do you do when your entire future changes in an instant? In this episode of Thought Atlas, I’m joined by Ken Kunken—attorney, disability advocate, rehabilitation counselor, and author of I Dream of Things That Never Were: The Ken Kunken Story . At twenty years old, while playing football at Cornell University, Ken suffered a spinal cord injury that left him almost completely paralyzed from the shoulders down. Many believed his life as he knew it was over. Instead, he returned to Cornell, became the university’s first quadriplegic graduate, earned advanced degrees in education, psychology, and law, spent more than four decades serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Nassau County, built a family, and dedicated his life to expanding opportunities for others. Together, we explore: • Resilience after catastrophic injury • Redefining purpose • Disability and accessibility • Mindset and perseverance • Building a meaningful life • Family and relationships • Leadership through adversity • Public service • Overcoming limitations • What courage looks like over a lifetime This isn’t simply a conversation about surviving tragedy. It’s about refusing to let one moment define the rest of your life. 🌍 Thought Atlas https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas 🌍 Ken Kunken https://kenkunken.com/ Learn more about Ken Kunken, his memoir, and his lifelong work in disability advocacy by visiting his official website.
