Summary
Sierra connects with Laura Pett about her experience training for and racing the Virginia Beach Marathon 2026 Laura shares how she structures her training to PR almost every marathon she's ran, the self-talk that works for her, and the real-time resilience she used to shift her goals mid-race and still finish feeling proud plus a podium finish! Laura is a 35 year old runner, mom/wife, and certified athletic trainer from Tennessee. She's been been running since middle school, ran collegiately at University of Tennessee at Martin, then moved up in distance during grad school and beyond. She's ran 10 marathons so far with a PR of 3:04, and countless races at other distances throughout her running career. Her job as an AT has helped her with her own injury prevention/recovery and being a competitive runner has helped her relate to her athletes and help them in their athletic endeavors. Huge shoutout to Laura for sharing her experience and the mental skills that she trained so we can all shatter our next race!
