Summary

Welcome to Music City! Lauren “LOLO” Pritchard and Stephen Michael Spencer join Robert Bannon on The Roundtable to talk about the gritty, heartfelt new musical bringing the sound—and struggle—of Nashville to the New York stage. Now playing Off-Broadway at St. Luke’s Theatre, Music City features music and lyrics by Billboard chart-topping songwriter JT Harding, a book by Peter Zinn, and direction by Eric Tucker. Set around the Wicked Tickle, an East Nashville dive bar filled with singers, songwriters, cheap beer, big dreams, and complicated lives, the show explores what happens when ambition, love, addiction, poverty, and the pursuit of a break all collide. LOLO, known to Broadway audiences as original cast member Ilse in Spring Awakening and for her recording career, stars as 23, while Stephen Michael Spencer—whose Broadway credits include Clyde’s—plays T.J. Together, they help bring Harding’s contemporary country catalogue to life with songs including “Smile,” “Sangria,” and “Somewhere In My Car.” We talk about the music, the characters, the immersive world of the show, and why Music City is about much more than country music. It’s a story about artists chasing something bigger while navigating all the messy, beautiful, and sometimes heartbreaking parts of life along the way. Music City began its current Off-Broadway run June 15 and officially opened June 24, 2026. Watch / listen on BroadwayWorld, Broadway Podcast Network, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeart, YouTube & more.
