To be human is to need attention. But in 2025, attention itself has become a commodity, a cultural force, and a valuable resource driving capitalism and shaping our lives. In this episode of The Latest Craze, we’ll unpack what attention means today, how it affects our everyday lives, and question if it’s something we need to become more aware of in order to mitigate it’s possible effects on society. We will discuss a recent book by Chris Hayes, The Sirens' Call: How Attention Became the World's Most Endangered Resource , which does a nice job illustrating all the different dimensions attention has taken on in the past couple decades.
