Summary
Women escaping into romance novels or online relationship content is not healthy IF THEY ARE THE PURSUING PARTNER. This fake media raises expectations beyond what a man can provide in the natural universe, and increases the distance between what she wants and what he can give, just like porn does for men. But some women don't at all want more romance and are the avoidant partner, not the preoccupied one. In this case, romantic movies are like cotton candy for the mind, predictable and easy to consume. There it's no personal identification or yearning involved in the viewing. Instead it's like someone unathletic who hates the cold watching Olympic skiing, or watching detective shows despite not at all wanting to be a detective or involved in a crime! All this and more.
