Summary
‘The Thinking Chair’ is a departure from his previous books, ones where Frank featured different, often dynamic Sault cultural histories, human migration stories, and hockey world legacies. In his new offering, Frank draws upon his long Sault community building experience, successful 40 year legal career, and later in life doctoral studies (PhD, Community Organizations, Bristol University, UK). ‘The Thinking Chair’ provides a fine blueprint for every community organization, institution, or non-profit enterprise seeking to achieve positive change and bringing people together, united in a common cause. For more than forty years, Dr. Frank S. Sarlo was a practicing lawyer acting on behalf of numerous institutions, industries, businesses and government agencies. Much of his time was spent sitting on federal, provincial and local boards and agencies as well as being involved, at all levels, in community projects in sports, the arts, political campaigns, and fund raisers. Because he was interested in examining examples of successful community mobilizations, Frank completed his doctoral thesis to determine the influences and processes that assist in leading to successful community mobilization. In addition, he had the privilege to take a leadership role in a number of successful community mobilizations that required the organization and recruitment of community assets to meet a specific challenge or goal. “Because of my love and appreciation for Sault Ste.
