Summary
It's late autumn, 1987, in the little town of Gretna, Illinois, and I ended up at the old Hoke House—a place kids dared each other to touch, not enter. I was there to check on a friend of a friend, a woman named Miriam who'd moved in alone after her husband died. She'd been calling the station with complaints about a knocking in the walls. Nothing structural, she said. It came from inside the brickwork. The chimney, she thought. But the chimney was sealed off years ago. When I got there, the house was cold, the kind of cold that settles in your bones. Miriam showed me the marks—scratches on the plaster, fine and deliberate, appearing overnight. She'd tried covering them with paint. They bled through. I sat with her through the first night, and by morning I understood what the knocking was. It wasn't coming from inside the walls. It was coming from inside the flue. And whatever was in there, it had been waiting a very long time. #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #TalesFromTheColdRoom #TheNightSheWatched #HokeHouse #GretnaIllinois #AutumnHorror #SmallTownHorror #Chimney #Brickwork #Knocking #Miriam #HauntedHouse #SealedChimney #BleedingThroughPaint #ColdRoom #AtmosphericHorror #SlowBurn Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
