Summary
So I really thought I was doing the right thing by letting my daughter focus on her grades and her friends, but things took a turn for the worse when she actually started acting like a total Karen about basic responsibilities. I told her it was finally time to pick up a part-time shift so she could learn the value of a dollar, and she looked me dead in the eye and said she won't do it because it would ruin her social life. She honestly thinks her weekend parties are more important than contributing to the household, and the level of entitled behavior coming out of her mouth right now is just beyond belief. And then the real drama started when I decided to just stop paying for her phone and her car insurance since she clearly doesn't want to work for anything. She went into a full meltdown because her precious social life took a massive hit the second she couldn't drive herself to the mall or text her friends. It felt like a small win of ProRevenge when I handed her the stack of unpaid bills and watched her realize that the free ride is officially over. She can't believe I actually followed through with it, but seeing her face when the Wi-Fi password changed was the wake-up call she desperately needed. It is just wild how some kids think the world owes them a living while they just hang out and have fun.
