Summary
While house-sitting for family members one summer, a woman agreed to spend the night alone in an old Ohio home with four dogs for company. The attic had been converted into a bedroom, accessible only by a single narrow staircase, and she had stayed there before without any problems. Then, at exactly 5:16 one morning, every dog in the room suddenly erupted into panic. The two Great Danes ran downstairs barking. The Jack Russell followed. Even the puppy trapped in her kennel started barking frantically toward the stairwell. At first, she assumed someone had broken into the house. But when the dogs refused to come back upstairs, she heard something else instead: slow, deliberate footsteps climbing toward the attic bedroom one step at a time.
