Summary
The little town already felt abandoned by the time she visited her grandmother there. The school had closed, families had moved away, and most afternoons the playground sat completely empty. So when two barefoot boys suddenly appeared behind her at the swings one summer afternoon, she was more surprised than frightened. At first, they seemed friendly enough.
