Episode s2-41 The Codex Gigas: What is a miracle? The Modern definition is “a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.” A phenomenon is defined as “a fact or situation that is observed to exist or happen, especially one whose cause or explanation is in question.” Incredibly, the medieval manuscript the Codex Gigas (otherwise known as the Devil's Bible) is possibly both a miracle AND a phenomenon.
