Summary
Recently, four naval commands across the Gulf – Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC); Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD); and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) – signed an MOA to launch Gulf Coast Defense Catalyst (GCDC), teaming up Navy commands with local businesses, startups, and universities. GNO, Inc. is running point on it, with plans for things like industry events, pitch competitions, and even a possible testbed on Lake Pontchartrain and a software lab at UNO. Basically another win for positioning New Orleans as a real defense tech hub. Commander Andrés Otero The Officer in Charge (OIC) at Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic in New Orleans, located at LSU New Orleans, joins Newell to explain more.
