Summary
The Patriots aim for their first win at home this Sunday against the Steelers, but their offense is in crisis—averaging just over 15 points per game over the last five contests. Defenses have cracked the code on quarterback Drake Maye, deploying two safeties deep to shut down big plays and force short, underneath throws. Maye admits he’s losing patience with limited gains, while a stagnant running game leaves defenses free to focus on stopping the pass. Coach Vrabel stresses patience and run-game improvement as the key to forcing coverages that open up deep shots. The Steelers, under new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, are expected to mirror this zone-heavy strategy, making it even tougher for Maye. For the Patriots to break through, they must master the short game and establish the run—otherwise, they’ll keep falling into the same defensive blueprint.
