Summary
In Todd County, Kentucky, the annual Bale Trail transforms ordinary hay bales into dazzling public art across 56 stops through October 31st — a beloved tradition now in its 11th year. This year’s theme? America 250, with local businesses like the Purple Daizi Day Spa crafting giant hay sculptures of baseball bats, hot dogs, and apple pies — even the bank bid farewell to the penny with a hay bale tribute. Highlights include a soaring eagle, Uncle Sam, and a hilarious Ronald Reagan homage (“Re-HAY-gan!”). Local artist Ashley Francis wowed crowds with her “Hayy Dolly” sculpture — a Dolly Parton-inspired hay bale holding a guitar, flanked by butterflies. It’s more than just decoration: it’s community pride, creativity on display, and a magnet for visitors from nearby towns.
