Summary
Tennessee cruised to a 45-24 win over Georgia Tech, powered by DeSean Bishop’s 147 rushing yards and two TDs, plus freshman QB Faizon Brandon’s two passing touchdowns—including a key 20-yarder to Braydon Staley. Tennessee seized control early in the second quarter with a 41-yard interception return for a touchdown by DeJuan Lane. Georgia Tech’s Alberto Mendoza (younger brother of last year’s Heisman winner) threw for 221 yards and a TD but also tossed two picks. The game hit a pause in the third quarter when Jordan Walker and Jaylen Mbakwe collided and were forced off the field—Walker couldn’t put weight on his leg, Mbakwe went to the hospital. Bishop scored again shortly after. Defense got a boost with Arion Carter’s return after a one-game suspension, tallying eight tackles and a deflection. Still, Tennessee racked up 14 penalties for 142 yards—room for improvement as they head into conference play.
