Summary
Musician Nirosta Steel is in the spotlight after his Xiaohongshu account was shut down for following profiles with AI-generated suggestive images of young boys — a discovery he made only after a friend showed him screenshots. He claims he joined the platform impulsively, trusting his husband’s praise of his growing fanbase there, and didn’t realize the content was problematic until later. Apologizing sincerely, he says these accounts don’t reflect his values and blames his lack of digital savvy — even suggesting societal biases may be fueling the backlash. Despite the controversy, his tour continues: multiple NYC shows in September, a London Pitchfork slot, and a rescheduled Chicago gig at Lincoln Hall in January.
