Summary
Jay Weinberg, ex-Slipknot drummer, opens up about his emotional exit from the band in 2023, calling it heartbreakingly unexpected and still confusing. He turned to therapy to process the fallout, describing how finding the right therapist felt like unlocking a door—and learned that asking for help and leaning on community is vital. Since leaving, he’s been busy: joining Suicidal Tendencies, working with Fuming Mouth and Softcult, launching his own band Portraits of an Apparition, and finally pursuing solo work after years of legal restrictions. Meanwhile, Slipknot dropped their first new single in three years—complete with turntable scratches that sparked fan debate—clarifying it’s not the sound of their upcoming album. Confusion swirled around Sid Wilson’s status until the band confirmed he’s no longer involved (though they later deleted the post), while Wilson himself updated his Instagram to mark his 29-year tenure and confirmed he’s absent from the new video, leaving Slipknot at eight members.
