Summary
This episode details a tragic 2021 Albuquerque carjacking and kidnapping that escalated into the murder of Elias Otero. The violence began when a young man was lured by a girl he met on Snapchat, only to be ambushed by three armed assailants who forced him to lead them to his family home for ransom. Upon arrival, a chaotic shootout ensued, resulting in the death of Otero, a former corrections officer who died protecting his brother. Investigations eventually identified Annabella Dukes as the decoy who facilitated the "honeypot" scheme, alongside several male accomplices. While the suspects claimed they were coerced or acting in self-defense, legal proceedings led to prison sentences for the key players involved. The narrative concludes with the Otero family turning their grief into community advocacy through a justice group for victims' families.
