Summary
In Placerville, California, Colleen Harris was convicted of the cold-blooded murder of her third husband, Bob Harris, whom she shot with a shotgun while he slept. Though she claimed to be in a mental fog during the 2013 killing, prosecutors argued she was motivated by jealousy and ego after discovering Bob’s affair with a woman in Mongolia. Following the shooting, she reportedly took a joy ride to San Francisco to hide valuables before calling her attorney instead of emergency services. The case gained national attention because Harris had been acquitted decades earlier for killing her previous husband in an identical fashion. This history of violence undermined her defense, leading the jury to find her guilty of murder. Ultimately, the court sentenced the seventy-year-old grandmother to 50 years in prison, ensuring she would spend the remainder of her life behind bars.
