Summary
The Minnesota Wild just locked down John Hynes for the long haul with a multi-year contract, cementing his role as their head coach after leading them to their first playoff series win in over a decade. With 12 NHL coaching seasons, including stints in New Jersey and Nashville, and a solid career record of over 400 wins, Hynes brings proven experience — plus Olympic gold medal pedigree on Team USA’s penalty kill. General Manager Bill Guerin praised his work ethic and strategic mind, highlighting how deeply he’s embedded in the organization’s culture. From college hockey to USA Hockey development, Hynes’ deep roots in the game signal this isn’t just a short-term move — it’s a bold statement of confidence in his vision to build sustained success with the Wild.
