Summary
A deadly mass shooting erupted in downtown Minneapolis, leaving two dead and six injured—including three police officers, one of whom was shot twice and underwent surgery. The suspect, 35-year-old Carlton Neal Johnson, died by suicide after the attack. He had a documented history of violence, including assaulting a resident in March and threatening staff with a gun just days before the shooting. Facing eviction for months due to repeated violations, he’d even begged management for a second chance—unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. Compounding the tragedy, four additional officers suffered health issues from exposure to an unknown airborne substance at the scene. Police commend their courage as they charged into danger while others fled. Authorities continue investigating the full scope of this horrific event.
