Summary
Veteran pitcher Joel Kuhnel, traded to the Brewers in June and used sparingly with a rough 6.52 ERA in 10 MLB innings, was designated for assignment and claimed by the Giants off waivers. While his Triple-A numbers (1.64 ERA) were solid, the move barely ruffles Milwaukee’s already elite bullpen—led by Trevor Megill, Abner Uribe, and DL Hall—with key arms returning from injury. For the Giants, though, it’s a strategic pickup: adding experience to a struggling bullpen as they chase late-season momentum. Kuhnel, who pitched for the Athletics earlier this year, gets a fresh start while the Brewers stay focused on their playoff push.
