Summary
The Miami Hurricanes are fielding one of the youngest teams in college football for 2026, but their linebacker corps bucks the trend—packed with veterans including eighth- and sixth-year seniors Mohamed Toure and Chase Smith. After staying healthy all season, both leaders delivered standout performances: Toure racked up 82 tackles and 2 sacks in the College Football Playoff, while Smith added 31 tackles, 2 fumbles recovered, and 2 pass deflections. Junior Bobby Pruitt, a special teams standout, is poised for more snaps, and depth is improving with healthier Kamal Bonner and newcomers Kellen Wiley Jr. and Ezekiel Marcelin Jr. ready to shine. With seasoned vets mentoring the young squad, the linebacker unit could be the backbone of Miami’s defense this season.
