Summary
Manchester’s historic Portico Library just got a £6.4 million boost from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, fueling its “Portico Reunited” project to reunite its three floors for the first time in over a century. This landmark investment will transform it into the UK’s most sustainable historic library — complete with step-free access, new exhibition spaces, a regional bookshop, and a kitchen celebrating Manchester’s food and writing culture. Founded in 1806, this cultural cornerstone is set to reopen in March 2030 after construction begins late 2028, welcoming 95,000 visitors annually. It’s not just restoration — it’s a vibrant future rooted in heritage. Listen in comfort: Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
