Summary
Forster Construction in Lubbock, Texas, surprised Navy vet Fabian Martinez with a brand-new roof—completely free—on the Fourth of July, tying it to America’s 250th anniversary. Martinez, who’d signed up after a hailstorm ruined his old roof, thought it was a prank at first. A proud Navy veteran who joined in 2001 following his dad’s military legacy and served as a damage control firefighter before 9/11, he was discharged in 2011 due to force reductions. Transitioning to civilian life was hard, but he pushed through—and now he’s determined to show other vets they can overcome any obstacle. The crew finished the one-day black roof installation, turning a simple act of kindness into a powerful symbol of community, resilience, and giving back.
