Summary
Lubbock is set to honor its legendary son Mac Davis with a stunning new statue, funded by a dedicated development fund and poised for unveiling as early as January. The iconic musician, who penned hits for Elvis and Dolly Parton while calling Lubbock home, will be immortalized in a traffic circle at the intersection of Mac Davis Lane and Avenue X — the very neighborhood where he grew up. After years of advocacy and final council approval, the city’s next vote will seal the deal, turning a long-held dream into a lasting tribute that celebrates Davis’s musical legacy and deep roots in the heart of Texas.
