Summary
The LA Kings just landed veteran center Erik Haula in free agency, bringing physicality, two-way play, and playoff experience to their middle. After a solid 38-point season with Nashville — where he anchored special teams and represented Finland internationally — Haula slots into a committee alongside Byfield and Laughton, stepping in as Kopitar’s successor without trying to replace him. Signed for $7.2M over two years, he’s expected to thrive on the second line with Zuccarello and Fiala, focusing on responsibility and consistency. The goal? Repeat his point-per-game output while trimming penalty minutes — a breakout year could mean 15 goals and 40 points.
