Summary
Jermain Defoe just dropped a jaw-dropping compliment: Joe Cole, at just 15, was the most talented young player he’s ever seen—outpacing even today’s rising stars like Max Dowman and JJ Gabriel. The West Ham-turned-Chelsea legend, now 44, dazzled with his ball control and speed, setting a benchmark that still echoes. While Dowman’s two Carabao Cup goals and Gabriel’s “Kid Messi” nickname light up modern football, Defoe’s praise for Cole reminds us how rare true genius at such a tender age truly is.
