Summary
The Philadelphia Phillies lose 9-5 and drop two-of-three to the Los Angelese Dodgers! Don Mattingly seems to have a real problem trying to figure out when to pull Aaron Nola. Detroit may have been too early and now, over Nola’s last two starts, too late! Despite Nola allowing two runs on a double by Dalton Rushing in the top of the 5th inning, Mattingly still opted to put Nola back out for the 6th with the meat of the Dodgers order coming up. Nola allowed a leadoff double to Freddie Freeman then on the very next pitch gave up a two-run homer to Max Muncy. Nola’s night was done after 5.1ip five runs on seven hits and four strikeouts. The game featured ANOTHER baserunning blunder by the Phillies as Bryson Stott got caught with his head in the clouds. With the game tied at 3-3, Stott was on second base with one out. Trea Turner bounced a ball to 3rd and Stott tried to advance despite Muncy standing RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF HIM WITH THE BASEBALL! You CAN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP! The Dodgers tacked on four more in the top of the 8th, thanks in large part to Tommy Edman’s bases-clearing three-run triple off Orion Kerkering.
