Summary
The Philadelphia Phillies bounced back to beat the New York Mets, 6-1 thanks to some big swings and the arms shutting things down! The Phillies didn’t waste any time in grabbing a lead in the win. Trea Turner led off the bottom of the first with an infield single and Kyle Schwarber followed with a two-run homer. Jesus Luzardo allowed a solo homer by Tyrone Taylor in the top of the 2nd, but kept the Mets off the board after that. The All-Star lefty tossed five innings of one-run baseball allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out seven using 90 pitches. The Phillies added to their lead by plating two more in the 5th with a solo homer by Trea Turner and an RBI single by Alec Bohm. Bryce Harper added another two runs in the 6th with a two-run single. The bullpen combo of Orion Kerkering, Jose Alvarado and Chase Shugart combined for four innings of scoreless one-hit, no-walk baseball with Shugart throwing two innings.
