Summary
Lane Kiffin stood at his own podium in Baton Rouge six days before kickoff and called Trinidad Chambliss the best playing quarterback in the country. This show read it as an alibi. Then Chambliss went 33-of-48 for 363 yards, two touchdowns and a 14-yard keeper against a top-ten defense on ABC, and beat him 32-24. The alibi was the scouting report. Ole Miss is 3-0, 1-0 in the SEC, ranked 4th — and getting 2.5 points on the road Saturday. Five days to Florida. Saturday, 3:30 ET in Gainesville, and the Rebels are a road underdog for the first time this season. Steven Willis uses a word he does not throw around — magisterial, in honor of Ray Hudson — and spends ten minutes defending it, lays out why this defense is either good enough to win every game left or good enough to get beat, and reads the Week 4 board for what it says about where Ole Miss plays in January.
