Summary
Montreal Canadiens shake up their roster as Kent Hughes locks down Alex Newhook with a front-loaded extension and ends the speculation by signing Arber Xhekaj to a one-year deal. Will Newhook emerge as the Habs’ second-line center, and can Xhekaj secure a permanent spot on the blue line, especially with Kaiden Guhle’s injury uncertainty? Laura Saba and Ian Boisvert break down the timing and structure of Newhook’s contract under the newly-old CBA rules, explore the Canadiens’ crowded forward group, and spotlight training camp battles featuring prospects like Florian Xhekaj, Owen Beck, and Adam Engstrom. Key topics include roster logistics, special teams roles, and the impact of no-trade clauses. With no PTO invites and positional battles ahead, can any surprise names force their way onto the Opening Night lineup? Stay tuned to Locked On Canadiens for exclusive insights and essential lineup debates.
