Summary
Paul O’Grady’s husband, Andre Portasio, brought a cherished travel trunk once owned by legendary performer Gypsy Rose Lee to The Repair Shop — a treasure Paul kept proudly displayed at home. After Paul’s passing in 2023, Andre discovered its emotional contents: wedding photos, a wedding invitation, and a certificate honoring Paul’s work with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. The trunk, in need of restoration, was beautifully revived by bookbinder Chris Shaw, who even traveled to Paul’s hometown to present it. Now, the restored trunk will be featured in an exhibition celebrating Paul’s iconic life — a heartfelt tribute to a beloved entertainer and the power of preserving personal history.
