Summary
A civil engineering student, Innes Miller, landed in court after a viral sex scene on a Ferris wheel at the Download Festival—filmed, shared online, and sparking outrage, especially among festivalgoers and a mother whose young son was traumatized. Despite his defense claiming the internet’s reaction was punishment enough and that he was intoxicated and unaware of the public shock value, Miller pleaded guilty to outraging public decency. Already under a community order for a drug-driving offense, he was fined £80 plus costs. The judge acknowledged the viral frenzy but emphasized the court’s decision stood apart from social media judgment.
