Summary
Ki’Ev Cochran, a graduate of Howard University School of Law, completed over 500 pro bono hours! During her junior year, a wrongful convictions course changed everything. After hearing from a man who spent 15 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, and whose own public defender didn’t believe him, Ki’Ev knew she wanted to be the advocate people deserve. In this episode, she opens up about her experience at Howard Law, including bullying, the challenges of being a first-generation student, and the emotional toll of law school. She also shares her bar exam journey, failing her first attempt and how, the second time around, she prioritized her mental health and community. This episode is for anyone preparing for the bar exam who feels overwhelmed, burnt out, or unsure if they can make it through.
