The proposal could cost more than $1 trillion, and several Republican lawmakers are questioning whether the federal government can afford it when the national debt has already surpassed $40 trillion. Others are looking for ways to make Trump's proposal work. So today we’re going to follow the money. How much would these checks actually cost? Could tariff revenue pay for them? Would Congress have to approve them? And what would sending that much money into the economy mean for inflation and the national debt? Plus, parents—you’re going to want to hear this next story.
