Summary

Conservative Republican (Red) led states spring into action to redistrict (gerrymander) away majority Black districts following the landmark 6-3 decision in Louisiana v. Callais , in which the Supreme Court significantly weakened Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. The ruling made it considerably harder to challenge racially discriminatory voting maps and has paved the way for states to redraw congressional districts in ways that could eliminate minority-majority seats.
